Manuel Garrido Barberá (València, Spain, 1985) is an artist and illustrator, cultural manager and bookseller. His style is versatile and personal, warm, expressive and with a certain melancholic air, the result of a combination of influences and interests in different cultural manifestations: from popular Ibero-American and European graphics to art brut; from children’s creations to social criticism. His practice alternates the use of techniques such as drawing, linocut, collage or paper cut-outs with a special attraction to imperfection, error and chance.

Graduated in Art History, as a self-taught artist his work is divided between professional commissions for posters, publications and bookplates, and his own artistic projects. He has also participated in a dozen group exhibitions in places such as the Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània CCCC, the Jardí Botànic of the University of València or the Kessler-Battaglia gallery. As a cultural manager he has curated several art and illustration exhibitions and he has been director of the Associació de Professionals de la I·llustració Valenciana – APIV and of the Baba Kamo illustrated book festival and fair in València. Since 2022 he is co-owner of the Bartleby bookstore in València.
